Young Dancer Program

Ages 3-7

The Young Dancers Program includes

  • Creative Dance (Ages 3-4)
  • Pre Ballet (ages 5-6) and
  • Elementary Ballet (ages 6-7).

Students in the Young Dancer Program learn musicality, coordination, classroom etiquette, and ballet vocabulary.
Students enjoy performing in their own Petite Nutcracker in December and the Petite Finale in May, as well as educational visits to our costume shop and stage.

Creative Dance

Ages 3-4

Introduces children to the joy of dance through rhythm, movement, music and fun. This class meets once a week for 45 minutes.

Ages 5-6

This class is a prelude to formal dance instruction. It introduces children to the basic steps and terminology, music, rhythm and movement, while promoting creativity and group interaction. This 45 minute class meets once a week.

Elementary Ballet

Ages 6-7

Introduces students to the fundamentals of classical ballet training. Students focus on basic ballet technique and terminology, proper body alignment, and musicality. This 45 minute class meets twice a week.

Dress Code

Ages 3-7

Girls: Soft pink leotard, soft pink tights, pink ballet shoes
Boys: White fitted shirt, black tights, black ballet shoes

Payment Options:
1 – Pay in full for the entire year and receive an 8% discount (reflected above in yearly price)
2 – Pay by semester – payment due no later than September 11, 2017 and January 29, 2018
3 – Pay monthly – nine payments charged automatically on the first Monday of each month, Sept. through May. An 8% fee will be applied to each monthly payment

*Monthly payment option requires payment by credit card, kept on file. Scheduled holidays, breaks and weather-related school closings do not alter monthly tuition.

Terms and Conditions:

Grand Rapids Ballet School maintains a policy of offering no refunds. All tuition is non-refundable whether or not the program in question has begun.

An 8% discount is given if the entire year is paid in advance.  Tuition received after the first full week of classes will be charged a $20 late fee.  All returned checks are subject to a $25 fee.  Students with outstanding balances from the previous term will not be permitted to re-enroll until all accounts are made current.

All students are charged a $20 registration fee.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Each year the GRBS awards over $65,000 in financial aid to students who demonstrate financial need or artistic excellence. The financial aid fund is made possible through contributions by Wege Foundation, Beusse & Porter Family Foundation, James H. Schindler, and Stephen Dunker Memorial Scholarship Fund.
