From the charming scenes of an Italian village to the pulsating drama of a live electric violin, there truly is something for everyone as the Grand Rapids Ballet presents four renowned works in Amore & More!
Red Angels is a visually dramatic and dynamically charged abstract work by Ulysses Dove that stimulates the senses with its intense color, sound and sensual impact. We are thrilled to welcome electric violinist Mary Rowell, to whom the music for this ballet was
dedicated, to perform the original score live on stage with our dancers!
Flower Festival in Genzano is a romantic work set in an Italian village, performed with energy to Edvard Helsted’s musical score and the dynamic choreography of August Bournonville.
The Envelope, choreographed by David Parsons, is a humorous light-hearted take on the frustrations of bureaucratic paper-pushing. Its contemporary movement is perfectly combined with a wonderful Gioachino Rossini piece of music and will keep you laughing til the end.
Con Amore is Lew Christensen’s comic masterpiece set to three Rossini overtures with a tongue-and-cheek libretto that the New York Times called “funny and ingenious, theatrical and dynamic.”
Tickets: $35 adults, $30 seniors, $25 children, available at the Ballet Box Office or Ticketmaster.
